Lookin at Lucky Dominates

Looking at Lucky RollsLookin at Lucky finished with a four length victory at the Haskell Invitational on Sunday, August first. The 2010 Preakness Stakes winner dominated a field that included Kentucky Derby Winner Super Saver and Trappe Shot, a three year old horse who has quickly risen to the top of the horse racing world.

Jockey Martin Garcia rode Lucky through a rough first quarter. Despite starting at the rail, Garcia steered the horse to the outside in order to avoid traffic. He would spend the rest of the race on the outside, making his victory all the more impressive. Coming off the final turn, Garcia powered the horse past the competition and took a four length lead over the field.

The $1 million race purse attracted some of the best horses to Monmouth on Sunday, drawing a crowd of over 40,000. The top three were rounded out by Trappe Shot and First Dude. Super Saver finished fourth. Lucky has now won eight of his eleven starts.

With this victory, trainer Bob Baffert grabbed his record fourth Haskell Invitational title.
