Zenyatta Remains Perfect

It was as if Zenyatta knew she had the race won. In Saturday’s victory at Del Mar, Zenyatta stayed relaxed throughout the entire race, only surging around the far turn where she went 4 wide. She then eased back over the final 1/16th mile to win her 18th consecutive race. The crowd of over 32,000 was not surprised.

Originally, Zenyatta’s owners were planning on retiring her after her victory at the Breeders’ Cup Classic last November, but changed their minds and let her return for another season. Zenyatta is the only female to have won that race and she has a lifetime earnings of over $6 million.
