Who Will Win The Kentucky Derby

With the upcoming Kentucky Derby, there are many horses still in the field that could conceivably win this race. Uncle Mo was at one point the clear-cut favorite, but after his third place finish in the Wood Memorial in April, there is really no single horse that shines brighter than the rest.

Dialed In looks like a solid choice as the winner, but this horse has had no real experience with slower paces. In fact, the one race that he lost was a slower paced race. While it’s true that nerves run high at the Kentucky Derby, it is not smart to let a horse go out too quickly. Because this is how Dialed In thrives, there are too many unknown factors to slate him as the winner.

Nehro is seeming to be a contender more and more every day. He likes to run off the pace and will most likely be in the back of the pack early on in the Derby. But Nehro is a versatile horse with a lot of late speed—a quality that the Kentucky Derby winner will most likely need. Nehro has finished 2nd in both of his last two races, but his best Beyer of 98 makes him a true contender for the wreath of roses. This number equals Uncle Mo’s best number and establishes the relatively newcomer as a legitimate threat to the other, more established, potential runners.
