Maybesomaybenot Wins Sanford Stakes

When Maybesomaybenot won its maiden race earlier in July at Churchill Downs, the betting public did not think that the horse would perform in stakes races in the same manner. But the Grade 2 $150,000 Sanford Stakes held at Saratoga today saw the 9-5 favorite Bail Out the Cat perform poorly, allowing Maybesomaybenot to take the lead early and never look back. He was challenged twice, but held off all advances.

Maybesomaybenot ended up winning the 6 furlong race in a time of 1:10.97, one and a half lengths ahead of late attacking Nacho Saint. The long shot horse ended up paying $21.20. Nacho Saint, the only maiden in the field, was another long shot. The exacta paid $123.50.

Trainer Michael Maker commented after the race that the horse’s team has no plans for him as of yet
